Molly was
our first Doberman, born on April 26, 1999. Her registered name
is Palm Bay’s Dynamite Molly, CGC. We purchased her through a
local breeder, who was in the process of obtaining her from a
Florida breeder. We were given the privilege of getting Molly
on the condition that we allow the local breeder to breed her to
her stud dog. Molly had a litter of 10 pups, with an even
mixture of boys/girls and red/black. When Molly went into labor
we drove 56 miles in a blizzard to take her to the breeder for
the whelping. Because we missed Molly so much, we drove back to
the breeder when the puppies were 1-1/2 weeks old and raised
them in our kitchen until they were 6 weeks old, at which time
they were returned to the breeder with the exception of one
black girl (See the story of Cricket.)
Molly is a
sweetheart. She wags her tail with her entire butt, doing what
we call “the wiggle-waggle.” When we come home, she greets us
at the door with the “wiggle-waggle” and a toy in her mouth.
She is somewhat shy and therefore is not subjected to
performance rings, although she does have a CGC, good obedience
training and trick training. She can play dead at the sound of
“bang,” say her prayers, high-five and “sit pretty.” She used
to be able to roll over but doesn’t like doing that since she’s
become more portly.
Molly is the
girl who taught us about Doberman health issues. Since being
spayed, she has been on estrogen, which has successfully halted
her incontinence issues. She is hypothyroid (medicated) and was
diagnosed with DCM at the age of 2 years. She has been on
Lotensin and Toprol since being diagnosed and has had normal
EKG’s yearly since diagnosis. She does, however, have
approximately 500 PVC’s in a 24-hour period as measured on a
Holter monitor. We’re very proud of the fact that Molly lives a
very normal and happy life, even with this heartrending
diagnosis. She will always be our special girl, and the one we
say “started it all” in our quest to always have Dobermans in
our lives.
We love you,
